The Krusell Gaia laptop bag
Design ****
The Krusell Gaia, in a cheerful winter-beating bright pink, has character. The Swedish design is attractive and it’s neatly styled. I think this would easily pass as a good sized handbag, so if you don’t want to broadcast that you’re packing a laptop this could be a great bag for you. Think professional – but not stuffy.
Capacity *****
Inside, the bag has a padded section for your laptop (up to 15.6″), a card holder, a section for notebooks with a useful Velcro closure plus a zipped net pocket that’s useful for cables and plugs. Outside, the bag has a large Velcro’d side pocket on one side and a smaller zipped pocket with inner pockets for phone, pens and other bits and pieces.
As someone who can’t bear to carry a handbag and a laptop bag at the same time, I was easily able to fit in a big purse, lippy, tissues, mirror, three notebooks, a paperback and my phone as well laptop, cables and a few other bits and bobs.
Well-made *****
The Krusell Gaia is of good quality polyurethane and polyester but its subtle grain could pass for leather. Zips are strong and smooth. The handles and strap are a polyurethane/canvas mix, the cream canvas strip adding a jaunty feel. All the stitching on this bag was neat and tight.
Does your laptop feel secure? ****
It wouldn’t be necessary to use a sleeve in addition to this bag. The bag’s padding should be sufficient to keep any laptop safe.
Easy to carry*****
The bag has two short handles and an amazingly comfortable adjustable strap. I loved how comfy this bag felt when it was full, thanks largely to the cleverly designed curved strap that fits neatly on the shoulder – and the strap is long enough to cross the body. It’s probably the best shoulder strap I’ve come across in 20 years of carrying laptops around.
Price*****
At £59 I think the Krusell Gaia is a very good buy. It’s by no means expensive given the sturdy construction and handbag styling. I would definitely buy this bag.
Overall score 4.7 *****
Best for
Definite feminine appeal, and the black version might suit a chap wanting a neat, unobtrusive carrier for days on the run. This is a good all rounder and would make an ideal gift.
