Laptop bag reviews – the best bags for working away from home
We’re continuing our product reviews with laptop bag reviews because although home workers may be based at home, we also go out regularly to meetings, networking events and coworking spaces.
On those occasions we need a bag that comfortably holds all the bits and pieces we take for a day working away from home.
This subject has generated lots of comment when I’ve blogged about it, as you can see from Home Working Bag Lady and Home Working Bag Lady Part 2. Everyone seems to have their favourite type of bag – backpack, messenger bag, pilot bag, briefcase etc and we had lots of recommendations for many different makes of bag.
What home workers want is a bag that’s spacious but doesn’t shriek it’s holding expensive IT equipment, particularly women out and about in the city at all hours.
Women complained that it was hard to find a bag that reflected their personal style at a reasonable price. There seemed to be a gap in the market between masculine black nylon with lots of straps, and designer bags that are highly covetable but at a price most home workers are not prepared to pay. And the prettier bags tend to be smaller, which means you have to carry a handbag as well, a no-no for many.
We hope that we might come up with some solutions for you. These laptop bag reviews have been carried out by home workers who have tested them on the hoof and rated them on the following categories – design, capacity, well-made, security of laptop, easy to carry, best for.
