New blog design

Hurrah – our new blog design is live!

New blog designWeeks of hard work paid off last night when the long-awaited switch to the new blog design went off with hardly a glitch.

Many thanks to Dan Hopkins, the web designer known as Blue Arse Fly 67, and of course to A, my one-man IT department and See a Man About a Blog.

I hope you agree the new design is much cleaner and fresher and presents our content better. The idea was to make everything much more visible and accessible, and to keep our lovely contributors in the public eye for longer after your guest posts have been published.

We are so relieved to have got rid of that terrible unstable menu that would disappear as soon as you hovered over it! You should find that the site downloads much quicker now, and will be more mobile responsive.

We have reorganised posts under new headings such as Routine, Family, Pets and Food, so that similar posts are in the same place and finding them is quicker and simpler. We hope we’ve chosen buttons that reflect your main concerns, such as Making Money and Saving Money.

The home office galleries have been rearranged according to where they are in the house (or garden) so that it’s easier to browse for inspiration for your own space. Please let us know if your photo has inadvertently been put in the wrong gallery – it’s not always easy to tell where they are located.

We’re still tweaking here and there, and finding photos that haven’t transferred over to the new blog design, so please tell us if you find something that’s not working properly. With so many posts and pages it’s a mammoth task to check every corner.

We hope you enjoy browsing the new site. Last week a reader tweeted to say she had lost track of time because it was all so interesting. That’s our ambition for every reader!
