Procrastination is an ogre
Today’s guest post is by Kate Cave, on a topic all home workers have to tackle at some point:
The loveable ogre Shrek said “There’s a lot more to ogres than people think. Ogres are like onions – they have layers.”
Procrastination is like an onion, it has layers too, and not only that, it can be as scary as coming face to face with a great big ogre. The alarming thing is that compared to sorting through that pile of paperwork, meeting an ogre seems like a reasonable option!
Procrastination, the art of putting things off until another time can be like the kiss of death for any business. Some things are easy to see, a pile of paperwork is not exciting for anyone, but what if you’re procrastinating about things that you know are good for your business? What if you’re putting off sending important emails that could potentially generate more business for you? These are alarm bells for you and you need to sit up and take notice.
Tip 1 – Really think about why you’re not doing what you should in your business. What stopped you from writing that blog today? Are you afraid of being seen and what people might think when they see you naked and exposed?
Tip 2 – If it’s been on your list for more than 3 weeks then it’s time to get someone else to do it. Think of it as freeing your energy. Your focus needs to be on income-producing activities.
Tip 3 – We often hold ourselves back from true success because we’re scared of what other people might think of us. We’ve been told not to get ideas above our station, to keep small, to not blow our own trumpet. We’re so terrified of moving forward that we literally can’t get out of our own way. I have a free procrastination videos series In video 3 there is a piece of ‘magic’ that will make a huge difference to you and your procrastination ogre.
Bonus Tip – Don’t procrastinate! Please, for the sake of your business and your inner happiness spend a bit of time contemplating the procrastination ogre today.
Wishing you every success in your business,
Kate

The more you resist the harder it becomes, so assuming the task is worthy of your attention in the first place, take action sooner rather than later.
Very true, Jason, but somehow, human nature being what it is, it ends up being rather more complicated :-/
Isn’t this a touchy subject Procrastination is the work of the devil.
