My home working story – Anita-Clare Field
Another answer to my question ‘How did you come to be working from home?’ comes from Anita-Clare Field, who is in the process of launching her training business Round Peg Learning and Development:
‘The primary reason for my decision to work from home was borne out of my desire to launch my training company. It was not an instant decision, having worked in the corporate machine for 23 years and hanging up my pinstripe suit was a wrench. It is a decision in hindsight I should have made 5 years ago, when my ‘affair’ with my 60-hour weeks began to falter.
‘Working from home gives me freedom of choice, I am still interrupted by clients on a daily basis, however, the joy of not having to justify my existence, sit in constant and mainly pointless meetings and deal with staffing issues constantly makes for a better and fulfilling working life.
‘I am lucky to be very disciplined and self motivated, which means I can achieve more working from home than I did sitting in my office in London. Working from home means I am responsible, I am answerable only to me and I carve out my own future and chose who I work with, this in itself is a massive plus point.
I sometimes miss the social interaction, but in the main I am exceedingly happy I made the choice to work from home.’
Thanks, Anita-Clare, I love your description of your ‘affair’ with employment ending! I hope you and home working will make each other happy for many years to come! And good luck with the business – exciting times.

There it is again…the main regret most self-employed people have is that they didn’t start sooner. Thanks for sharing your story.
