What makes home workers happy?
I’ve been reminded by a tweet this morning by Heather Bestel that last week when I invited you to share your home working hurrays I called it Thankful Thursday.
Well, it’s Thursday again, it’s beautifully sunny, it’s the time of year I enjoy the most, and I’m fortunate to have a day without deadlines. My only commitment is meeting Louise Billington, an inspiring coach and much more for small business, for tea this afternoon to catch up with news. Tomorrow I’m off on the early train to London to hear Topher Morrison talk about the practical and performance aspects of becoming a professional speaker.
So this Thursday I have lots to be thankful for and I’m wondering if you’d like to take a moment to share the little things that make you happy and make a positive impact on your home working life?

Hi Judy,
Thanks for the mention
I’m thankful everyday for the shortened commute. It takes me about 30 seconds to get to my office now. I’m also grateful for the fabulous view I have from my window: green hills, beech trees and cows (sometimes sheep) lazing about in the sunshine. If I want a different view, I can take my laptop into the conservatory and look at the view from the other side of the house of rolling hills far into the distance. When I need a break, I can step outside my front door into nature. It’s perfect and I’m very grateful xx-
Hi Heather
It’s very good for your eyes to gaze into the distance for a while instead of looking at a screen, so you have that advantage too. I find that looking at the countryside around me reminds me I’m a very small speck in comparison and my problems correspondingly minor! Which on some days – but not today! – is really helpful.

Thanks, Graham, that’s great. About 200 words on how you came to work from home and how you’re finding it so far would fit the bill, I think, sent to judy@workfromhomewisdom.com
And of course I’d love to hear from other home workers, recent or longstanding, whether starting to work from home was pure accident – as in my case over 20 years ago – or the outcome of a long and carefully-planned process. I think it could make a fascinating series. (And of course you get a link to your site!)

Being able to pop from my home office out to the deck and sit and have lunch with the sun shining down and being surrounded by nature – peace, quiet and tranquility. Really appreciate it after living in cities for 20 years and just moved back to a tiny village in the middle of nowhere I just love life in the ‘slow lane’.
